Title: CMA Validation Project

Description: The new CMA Validation Project will be discussed.

Title: Supporting Students with Behavior Challenges in the Montessori Classroom

Description: This two- session workshop will share the foundations for understanding challenges and how we can use the Montessori Triad as a basis of support. Using the Model of Prepare. Manage. Guide, we will discuss how to use the model to address the needs of individual students while optimizing the benefits of Montessori for all of our students.
Participants will learn how to create specific plans for the child with challenges with workable tools and techniques that are consistent with best Montessori practices. Building a “network of adults” and a “community of students” can lead to the creation of an inclusive classroom that benefits all. Participants will receive a packet of resources including Inquiry Observations forms, Record Keeping and Progress Monitoring forms, and a List of Supports to use in the classroom.

Bio-With a Masters of Education in special education, in addition to her Montessori credential, Christine has created inclusive classrooms- toddler through upper elementary- at two schools she has founded, managed, and taught at the early childhood level. She shares her commitment and 25 years of experience working with students with challenges as a consultant at Montessori schools, and as a presenter at regional, state, and national conferences. Her workshops are enjoyed for the practical, hands-on tools and techniques she offers to Montessori educators for serving all students in their classrooms.

As the principle consultant at Montessori-Now, Christine guides and supports the advocacy efforts of  state Montessori organizations. These efforts have resulted in regulations waivers for schools participating in a state-based Validation Project, and recognition of the Montessori credential by state agencies. She has also worked with state groups’ efforts to participate in state quality rating and improvement systems while maintaining best practice for Montessori schools.
