Crystal Koons is head of school and owner of Treehouse Montessori School in Fort Collins, CO where she has been a compassionate teacher, assistant, student, administrator, director, head of school and owner since 2011. Crystal has worked in many different environments and pedagogies, and knows that of all, Montessori Education is a necessary and extremely relevant model of Early Childhood Education.

From leading and crafting her school culture while building strong lasting relationships, she strives to always understand the nature of humans and what humans need in order to lead them. Crystal thrives in building community, and building genuine relationships comes naturally to her. Crystal holds her primary diploma from North American Montessori Center and plans to obtain an additional primary certification through The Center for Guided Montessori Studies, a MACTE accredited program. Crystal also has her state of Colorado Directors License for Early Childhood and a Graphic Design degree. 

Crystal believes in creating opportunities for people to follow their dreams and to find their best self. Her career mission is to always be a kind human being, build strong genuine relationships with all, always strive to be a better leader, and awaken her thought and purpose. Crystal also strives to be innovative and inspire families, children, and community along her journey.

When Crystal is not wearing every hat as head of school and managing her business, she loves being in the kitchen challenged by international cooking or in the outdoors, loving the nature that Colorado has to offer. Nature is her nurture! When not in the kitchen or in the outdoors, she enjoys collecting Practical Life materials at the thrift store to truly beautify her school’s environment (thrifting anyone?!), working towards a green thumb in the garden and making new friends. Crystal and her husband, Jon, currently have no children, but are in the process of adopting. They couldn't be more excited to adopt and have been looking forward to being parents for a very long time. They are currently fur parents to their dogs Chaco and Reeko but are eager to raise a tiny human together.
