Montessori From Birth to High School;  a Teaching and Parent Perspective         Infant/Toddler/Primary/Early Childhood/Elementary/Secondary

The Montessori experience from birth through High school. Sharing my experience of being a Montessori teacher in infant/toddler, primary and elementary class years to raising children in the Montessori philosophy through High school and beyond. I will discuss the home environment, the school and life outside.

Hello, my name is Kymm Garcia, I am a mother of 3 amazing children. My oldest has just graduated from Compass Montessori and is attending the Colorado School of Mines in the Fall 2018 school year. I have a son in high school and a daughter in the upper elementary program.

I began my Montessori journey over 20 years ago in an infant/toddler class in Denver  where I took my AMI infant/toddler training in Denver. Some years later after having my first child I took AMI primary training in Denver.  I came to Compass in 2004 and helped to start the primary classrooms at the Golden Campus. Then in 2013, I began my journey of Elementary training, where I spent 3 glorious summers in training at the Montessori Training Center of Minnesota and teaching in the Garnet classroom as a lower and upper elementary guide. I have my state teaching licensure in ECE with an elementary endorsement. This will be my 14th year at Compass and my first year on the adminstration team as an assitant principal.

I hold a BA in family studies and developmental psychology from Metropolitan State College of Denver and a Masters in Education from St Catherine University.  I hold AMI diplomas in Assistants to Infancy, Primary, and Elementary. I am currently pursuing my Principal's licensure and EdS at UNC.

In my free time, I love running, biking, swimming, hiking, camping and outdoor adventures with my family and my dog Sampson.
